Content Site Picks on Flippa with Upside Wins
This week's content site picks with Upside Wins include a VR site making $2500/m in profit, and a tactical products site with a $15K asking price.
Every week I pick new content sites and media property listings on Flippa that meet my criteria and have upside available, from three different revenue buckets. If you haven’t already, you can subscribe below:

This Week’s Picks
Please view this as initial screening - I am not recommending you should acquire these assets. Do you own due diligence and/or buy DD on Flippa or Centurica.
For my criteria and terminology see this post.
If you want further assistance with your acquisition, you can book a micro-consulting call with me on Clarity, details at Acquire.gg.
Back in 2020, I created a list of growth SOPs as Trello cards, that became full processes as part of the investing.io paid membership (you can apply here):
I’ll be including some of these in a new Upside Wins section for each deal going forward (just like I used to do back in the Deals emails for the website investing paid subscribers).
As a Flippa affiliate, I earn a % of what Flippa earns from listings sold.
Small Content Sites - acquire.gg/small-websites
Revenue-generating websites making $100-$499/m in profit
Nothing new I can pick that meets my criteria this week.
Medium Content Sites - acquire.gg/medium-websites
Revenue-generating websites making $500-$4,999/m in profit
smartglasseshub.com - $51,900 asking price
“3-year-old, Content Site, in the rapidly growing Virtual Reality niche, making $2534/month from Display Advertising (Ezoic) and Amazon Affiliate”
Search Traffic
Search traffic appears stable in Semrush. The top page gets under 5% of search traffic, so no page dependency here, and the content reads OK. Over 70% of pages are informational, with the first affiliate / product review content outside of the top 20 pages.
Backlinks
Backlinks have been dropping off since April so need to find out why this is the case:
The top linked page is a redirect to this page and has more referring domains than the homepage. This is what can happen when a piece of content goes viral, but it doesn’t look to be the case here where the top authority score of active referring domains is 3 and it’s all using the same anchor ‘VRChat Guide For Oculus Quest / Quest 2 – Smart Glasses Hub’…
Upside Wins
Fixing the broken redirect between http and https - there are 324 pages in the google index, with 242 of them on http:// and not https. These pages are competing with each other in the google search results, properly redirecting will clean up the index and should give rankings a boost.
Improve CRO on product pages - add comparison tables and improve CTAs which are currently just text links.
Website design/theme can be improved, plus adding EAT in the footer, author boxes/pages and social profiles
Valuation
Profit over the last 6 months seems to average ~ $1500/m which puts the monthly profit at 35x which is the market average based off data put out by Spencer at Niche Pursuits on Twitter. But you’d need to determine what makes sense in terms of backlink risk and upside.
yestactical.com - $15,000 asking price
“A 2-year old content website covering Tactical products, hunting and firearms”. Earns from Ezoic display ads, ShareASale and AvantLink affiliate networks.
Search Traffic
SEMrush appears to be showing a drop in search traffic on the 20th September Google update affecting product reviews.
However, there is a decent enough 65%-35% split between informational, ad-monetized content, vs affiliate so if it has been slightly hit it’s not the end of the world.
The top page is bringing in less than 3% of all search traffic, according to Semrush, so very well diversified with no page dependency here. It also reads well. The top product review page also reads fine, but I think you could squeeze some conversion optimization by adding more CTA buttons and adding an exit popup.
The number of backlinks have been dropping off since the start of the summer, so you may want to look into this.
Upside Wins
It’s also not redirecting between http and https
With 760 pages in the google index, recommend a content audit to remove pages that are not getting any search traffic, in particular product review pages to get to a 70%-30% split between informational and commercial content
CRO on product review pages and add a product exit popup
Valuation
Revenue appears to be trending up and back to all-time highs, with September at over $500 in profit. Based on the last month puts the multiple at under 30x which seems reasonable if October posts the same level of revenue.
Large Content Sites - acquire.gg/boss-websites
Revenue-generating websites making over $5000/m in profit - job replacement income.
Nothing new I can pick that meets my criteria this week.
